Iron & Wedge Fitting
The clubs you score with, fit as one set so the yardages step evenly all the way down.
An Iron & Wedge Fitting takes an hour and a half. Irons and wedges are fit together because the gaps between them are the whole problem: fit separately, the pitching wedge and the gap wedge tend to end up covering the same yardage. Your fitter works shaft first, then head, then the fine specs.

The scoring clubs, gapped properly
Two club types in one session, because the distance between the bottom of your irons and the top of your wedges is where most gaps hide.
Irons
Long irons through pitching wedge
What we measure
Dispersion, distance gaps, launch
Control into greens, with no gaps between clubs.
Wedges
Gap, sand and lob wedges
What we measure
Spin, launch, contact, bounce
Shots that check up instead of running out.
Woods and the putter are not covered here. If you want the whole bag stepping evenly, a Full Bag covers all four sections.

Averages are averages, and these come from a study rather than a promise. Here is what golfers say about their own fittings.

The tools that make it measurable
Three systems cover the whole bag and the decisions behind it, and all of them are in every Club Champion studio.

Trackman
The radar the PGA measures on, built on the same tracking technology used for military projectiles. It reads ball speed, spin, launch and club delivery on every swing, so a shaft or head change shows up as a number instead of a feeling.
Used for woods, irons and wedges

SAM PuttLab
Ultrasound analysis that reads 28 parameters of your putting stroke in seconds. It sets your putter’s length, loft, lie and toe hang against how you actually roll the ball, not how you think you do.
Used for the putter
AI Fitter Co-Pilot
More than 65,000 head and shaft combinations exist across the brands we carry. Our fitting software reads your session data live and narrows that field to the handful your numbers actually support, so your fitter spends the session testing rather than searching.
Used across every fitting

Each piece is sourced separately, weight-sorted and assembled to tight tolerances by a Master Builder, then checked back against your build sheet. Change one and the numbers change.
How an Iron + Wedge Fitting runs
Ninety minutes across the scoring clubs, irons first, then the wedges gapped down from them.
What gets tested, in order

Talk through your game
Your goals, your misses into greens, and what you play now.
What you walk out with
Every spec written down, and a build that matches it.
Your build sheet
The session ends with a build sheet listing the exact specs for every club it covered: head, shaft, length, lie, loft, swingweight and grip. Alongside it sits an itemized recommendation showing what each piece costs.
Nothing is bundled and nothing is withheld. The sheet is yours to keep whether you order that day or not.
No spiffs, no house brand
Your fitter is paid the same whatever you buy. There is no incentive to steer you toward one manufacturer, so the recommendation on your sheet is the one your numbers produced.
Built by Master Builders
Your order goes to a build shop, not an assembly line. Master Builders assemble each club to the specs on your sheet, and we email you as it moves.
SST PUREing
No shaft is perfectly consistent around its axis. SST PUREing finds each shaft’s most stable orientation and aligns it that way in the build.
What it costs, and what that buys
You pay for the fitting once. The clubs it produces carry lifetime loft, lie and length adjustments, and the Perfect Fit Guarantee sits behind the build.
A lower fee with a custom club purchase.
A Iron & Wedge Fitting costs $175 and takes about 1.5 hours. With a custom club purchase, the fee is $50.
Buy custom clubs during your visit and fittings become $100 for a full bag, $50 for anything else.

Iron + Wedge Fitting questions, answered
What golfers ask most before booking the scoring clubs.
What happens in an iron fitting?
An iron fitting follows the same core Club Champion process as a driver fitting — conversation, warm-up, baseline data, then shaft and head testing guided by your Master Fitter and the AI Fitter Co-Pilot. For irons specifically, expect extra focus on loft, lie angle (measured to a quarter degree), and distance gapping between clubs.
Is an iron fitting worth it?
Yes — an iron fitting is built to improve greens hit, distance, accuracy, and consistency across your set.
What is iron gapping?
Iron gapping is the yardage difference between each club in your set — traditionally around 10–15 yards, though your ideal gapping is goal-specific and confirmed with fitting data.
What is lie angle?
Lie angle is the angle the shaft makes relative to the ground when the club is soled correctly at address. Incorrect lie angle directly affects shot direction and distance, which is why Club Champion measures it to within 0.25 degrees.
What happens if my irons are too upright?
Irons that are too upright tend to produce shots that miss left (right for left-handed golfers) and lose distance, because increased heel friction closes the clubface through impact relative to the toe.
What happens if my irons are too flat?
Irons that are too flat tend to produce shots that miss right (left for left-handed golfers) and lose distance, because increased toe friction opens the clubface through impact relative to the heel.
What iron shaft weight should I use?
Iron shaft weight generally correlates with swing tempo and swing speed, but smash factor, dispersion, and spin rate also matter — your fitting tests these together to identify your correct weight.
Should I play steel or graphite iron shafts?
Neither material is inherently better — the right choice depends on your unique swing characteristics, which your Master Fitter tests during your fitting.
How often should I replace my irons?
There’s no set interval — it depends on whether technology or fitting data shows a measurable gain over your current set, which a fitting can confirm before you invest.
What is loft?
Loft is the angle of the clubface relative to the shaft, measured vertically. It directly influences launch angle, spin rate, energy transfer, and gapping between clubs in your set.
